A custom balloon printing company prints logos, names, messages, photos, or QR codes onto latex, foil, photo, or PVC balloons. The difference that matters is who runs the print line. Most companies on page one are resellers, trading companies, or decorators with a supplier account. We print in our own facility in Taiyuan, Shanxi.
Search the term and the results look interchangeable: a logo, a grid of balloons, a quote button. Almost none of them tells you who prints the balloons, what the proof covers, or who pays when the logo comes back wrong. Most of those pages aren’t custom balloon printers. This page gives you the numbers they leave out.
For the broader buying process, start with our guide to custom printed balloons.
Key Takeaways
- One colour on one side of a latex balloon typically starts at 100-250 pieces. Two colours usually need 250-1,000, and three to four colours need 1,000-3,000.
- A digital proof isn’t a sample. The proof shows layout. The sample shows whether the ink stretches with the latex.
- Standard screen production runs 4-10 business days for one or two colours, plus 5-10 days by air freight.
- EN 71 and ASTM F963 are different standards. Ask for the test report, not the badge on the website.
- The reprint terms matter more than the unit price. Get them in the quote before you pay a deposit.
What Our Balloon Printing Company Prints
Each format has a different print method, size range, and minimum. The format follows from the job: giveaways need volume, keepsakes need detail and float, and storefront displays need size.
| Format | Sizes | Print method | Best use | Typical MOQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Latex | 5″ to 36″ | Screen, digital | Giveaways, garlands, retail | 100-250 (1 colour) |
| Foil / Mylar | 18″ round, heart, star | Screen, heat transfer, digital | Keepsakes, hero pieces, retail | 50-250 |
| Photo | 11″ to 18″ | Digital | Faces, milestones, gifts | 1-50 |
| PVC / giant | 2 ft to 10 ft | Digital, heat transfer | Advertising, installations | 1-10 |
| Letter / number | 16″ to 40″ | Foil converting | Names, ages, milestones | 10-50 |
Latex is the volume format. It takes one to four colours well and costs the least per unit at scale.
An 11″ or 12″ balloon is the workhorse. A 16″ or 36″ piece carries a hero logo. See the custom printed latex balloons spec page for print areas and float times.
Foil holds sharper detail and floats for five to seven days. It suits a name, a date, or a logo that guests will take home. The trade-off is a higher unit cost and a narrower size range. See custom printed foil balloons for the format detail.
Photo balloons print full-colour faces and scenes, with a practical minimum near one piece. PVC and giant balloons run from two to ten feet and suit advertising and installations, not giveaways. Logo, letter, and number formats cover branding, names, and ages; start with logo balloons and quote the rest as separate lines. For the full material and method comparison, see our guide to custom printed balloons.

A Custom Balloon Printing Company, Not a Middleman
The term describes five different businesses. Your quote depends on which one you reach.
| Company type | Who controls print | Typical MOQ | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer / factory | Own line, ink, schedule | 100-5,000 by colour count | Volume, custom work, compliance |
| Trading company | A subcontracted factory | Varies | Convenience, very small buyers |
| Domestic print shop | Own or local line | 25-100 | Speed, small runs, local delivery |
| Marketplace | The seller, often unnamed | 1-1,000 | Price discovery |
| Decorator / reseller | A subcontracted printer | 10-500 | Installed decor, not product |
We are the first type: a custom balloon manufacturer with our own print lines in Taiyuan, Shanxi. We can quote printed and blank balloons on the same order. The proof comes from the people who will print, the reprint decision is made in-house, and the schedule is ours to move.
The scenarios in this page are illustrative composites, not named customers.
Elena runs marketing for a 60-person software company. She ordered 500 logo balloons for a trade show through a trading company. The proof looked fine.
The logo printed three millimetres off-centre, and the reprint arrived after the show closed. The unit price was 12% lower than a factory quote. The missed show cost more than the order.
She now asks one question before she pays a deposit: who prints the balloons, and where? If the answer is “our partner factory” with no name, she moves on.
For buyers who need a wholesale balloon printing company rather than a single run, see our custom printed balloons wholesale guide. If you need 50 balloons in five days, a domestic printer is the better call. We’ll tell you so.
How Our Balloon Printing Process Works
Here is how our custom balloon printing company handles the sequence, with the time each stage takes and what you approve.
Step 1: Artwork check (1-2 business days)
Send vector art in AI, EPS, or PDF with fonts outlined. Raster images need 300 dpi at final size. We check the safe zone, resolution, colour build, and text size, and we flag problems before production.
Step 2: Digital proof (about 1 business day)
The proof shows spelling, Pantone numbers, placement, sidedness, and scale. You approve the exact file, and we archive it under your reorder reference.
Step 3: Physical sample (optional, recommended above 1,000 pieces)
A sample is a real printed balloon, inflated and photographed. It shows how the ink behaves when the latex stretches, which a proof can’t.
Step 4: Production
Screen printing runs 4-10 business days for one or two colours and up to three weeks for three or more. Gravure runs two months or more; digital short runs are faster.
Step 5: Quality control
We inspect to AQL 2.5, inflate a sample, rub the print, check registration, and compare colour against the approved Pantone. You can request the report or send your own inspector.
Step 6: Packing and freight
Balloons ship bulk-packed, retail-ready, or white-label. Air freight takes 5-10 days; sea freight 25-40. We send the invoice, packing list, and compliance documents your broker needs.
Want to see your artwork on a balloon first? Ask for a sample with your quote. We will print one from your file and send a photo before you commit. Request a sample.
Custom Balloon Printing MOQs and Pricing
Custom printed latex balloons typically start at 100-250 pieces for one colour on one side. Two colours usually need 250-1,000, three to four colours 1,000-3,000, and a second side adds 500-1,000. Foil starts around 50-250, photo balloons as low as 1-50, and PVC or giant pieces 1-10.
The minimum exists because each colour is a separate screen or cylinder with its own setup. The 30th balloon costs almost nothing. The first one carries the setup.
| Configuration | Typical MOQ |
|---|---|
| 1 colour, 1 side | 100-250 |
| 2 colours, 1 side | 250-1,000 |
| 3-4 colours, 1 side | 1,000-3,000 |
| Second side | Add 500-1,000 |
| 4+ colours or full coverage | 3,000-5,000 |
| Foil | 50-250 |
| Photo | 1-50 |
| PVC / giant | 1-10 |
Indicative 2026 pricing for 11″ to 12″ latex in one colour is below. Treat it as a planning number, not a quote. Latex, ink, and freight move.
| Quantity | Indicative unit price |
|---|---|
| 25 (digital short run) | About $3.40 |
| 100-249 | About $1.16 |
| 250-499 | About $0.58 |
| 500-749 | About $0.39 |
| 1,000+ | About $0.26 |
Setup runs 0−75percolour.Freight,duty,andinspectionsitontop,soa”from0−75percolour.Freight,duty,andinspectionsitontop,soa“from0.15″ headline can land at $0.40-0.60.
Colours, a second side, size, and quantity move the price most. Artwork complexity, packaging, and the in-hands date come next. To cut cost, cut colours and sides before quantity.
Daniel sources promotional products for a Midwest distributor. He compared a factory quote at 0.41perballoonwithadomesticquoteat0.41perballoonwithadomesticquoteat0.78 for 2,000 three-colour latex. The factory looked 47% cheaper.
After freight, duty, and a 4% defect allowance, landed cost was 0.52against0.52against0.81. The gap was real but smaller than the unit prices suggested. He now compares landed cost at the same quantity, proof, and reprint terms.
Lead Times, Shipping, and Order-by Dates
A standard screen order runs three to four weeks door to door by air. A three-colour order runs five to six weeks. Sea freight adds five to six weeks and only makes sense for replenishment, not a launch.
| Order type | Total door to door | Order this far ahead |
|---|---|---|
| Standard air, 1-2 colours | 3-4 weeks | 4-5 weeks |
| Standard air, 3+ colours | 5-6 weeks | 6-7 weeks |
| Sea freight, 1-2 colours | 8-10 weeks | 10-12 weeks |
| Sea freight, 3+ colours | 10-12 weeks | 12-14 weeks |
| Rush air | 2-3 weeks | Ask before you promise a date |
Two calendar risks catch buyers every year: Chinese New Year in late January or February, and Golden Week in early October. Both are avoidable if you back the order date out from the in-hands date.
Order 10-15% extra. A reprint of 20 balloons isn’t economic, and a buffer costs less than a second setup. Store the buffer in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and heat. Our guide to balloon shipping and storage covers humidity and shelf life.
Balloon Printing Quality and Compliance
Compliance is where a cheap quote becomes an expensive order. Balloons marketed to children are children’s products in the US and fall under the Toy Safety Directive in the EU. The documents aren’t interchangeable.
| Market | Standard | Document | Who needs it |
|---|---|---|---|
| EU / UK | EN 71-1, -2, -3, -12; REACH Annex XVII | Test reports, Declaration of Conformity | Importer, retailer |
| US | ASTM F963-23; CPSIA; 16 CFR 1500.19 warning | CPC or GCC, test reports | Importer of record |
| US 2026 | CPSC eFiling under 16 CFR Part 1110 | Electronic certificate data | Importer of record |
| Global | ISO 2859-1 (AQL sampling) | Inspection report | Buyer |
Our latex lines are tested to EN 71-1, -2, -3 and -12. For US-bound orders, ask for the current ASTM F963-23 and CPSIA documentation for your line. We’ll send what applies and tell you what doesn’t.
Since July 8, 2026, importers of most CPSC-regulated consumer products must electronically file certificates of compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The Foreign Trade Zone phase starts January 8, 2027.
If you are the importer of record, you need the data before the container lands. See the CPSC guidance for scope.
Before you approve a purchase order, ask for four things: the test report matching the model and lot, the certificate of conformity, the CPC or GCC where it applies, and the EU Declaration of Conformity. A badge isn’t a document.
Eco claims need the same discipline. Natural latex is renewable, but a 2020 University of Tasmania study found no meaningful degradation after 16 weeks in water or compost. The FTC Green Guides require qualified, substantiated claims. Say “natural latex, responsibly disposed,” not “biodegradable, release it.” Our biodegradable printed balloons guide covers material, ink, and disposal.
The 10 Questions We Expect You to Ask Us
Ask any custom balloon printer these before you send a deposit. Here are our answers.
- Who actually prints the balloons, and where? We print in our own facility in Taiyuan, Shanxi. Ask any supplier for the production address and the name of the line.
- What is the MOQ at my colour count and side? One colour on one side starts at 100-250 pieces. Two colours move to 250-1,000. A single “low MOQ” claim hides the real number.
- What proof do I get, and how many revisions? A digital proof in about one business day, with spelling, Pantone, placement, and sidedness. Revisions are included before production.
- What happens if the print is wrong? Our reprint terms are in the quote. Ask for them in writing before you approve the proof. A good answer names who pays and how fast.
- Which certifications do you hold, and can I see the reports? We test latex to EN 71-1, -2, -3 and -12 and can send the reports. For the US, ask for ASTM F963-23 and CPSIA documentation.
- What is the lead time, stage by stage? Artwork 1-2 days, proof about 1 day, production 4-10 days for one or two colours, air freight 5-10 days.
- What is the all-in landed cost? Ask for unit price, setup, freight, duty, and inspection on one sheet. A unit price without an Incoterm isn’t comparable. The ICC Incoterms 2020 rules explain who pays.
- Can you archive my artwork for reorders? Yes. We keep the approved file and the Pantone reference under a reorder number.
- What is your inspection standard? AQL 2.5 sampling, with an inflate test, a rub test, and a colour check. Third-party inspection is welcome.
- What are the payment and IP terms? Ask for deposit and balance terms, an NDA if your artwork is unreleased, and a clear statement of who owns the artwork. We confirm all three in the quote.
The Five-Minute Sample Test
Five checks tell you more than most pages:
- Weigh 20-30 balloons on a 0.1 g scale. The weight should match the spec.
- Inflate three and leave them for 24-48 hours. Note the drop.
- Rub the print with your thumb. Poor ink lifts or chalks.
- Measure the print against the template. Off-centre is a registration problem.
- Check the neck and crown. If the text runs into the curve, the safe zone was ignored.
Build a Scorecard
Score three quotes on the same seven criteria: price (20), proof and sample (15), compliance (20), lead time (15), reprint terms (15), communication (10), and references (5). The highest score wins, not the lowest unit price.
Who We Work With
As a custom balloon printing company, we print for five kinds of buyer.
Brands and marketers hire a logo balloon printing company for launches, activations, trade shows, and retail promotions. They care about Pantone match, proof speed, and a date that can’t move. For campaign formats and measurement, see our promotional balloons guide.
Event agencies and planners order printed heroes and blank volume for weddings, birthdays, and grand openings. They need the print to match a palette and the delivery to hit a venue.
Distributors and importers need white-label packing, a reorder archive, and a landed cost they can resell.
Retailers and party shops want a printed range that sells through, with packaging and shelf life that work in a store.
Small businesses often need 100-300 balloons, so we quote a digital short run and say when a local printer is faster. See custom balloons for small businesses for the low-volume routes.
Priya owns a party shop in Leeds. She ordered 1,000 one-colour balloons, then reordered the same design eight months later. The second run matched because the approved file and Pantone reference were still on record. Her old supplier had asked for the artwork again and matched nothing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a custom balloon printing company do?
It puts logos, names, messages, photos, or QR codes onto latex, foil, photo, or PVC balloons. It may be a manufacturer with its own lines, a trading company that subcontracts, or a local shop that resells. The type changes your price, proof, and reprint terms.
How much does custom balloon printing cost?
Indicative 2026 pricing for 11″ to 12″ latex in one colour: about 3.40eachat25,3.40eachat25,1.16 at 100-249, 0.58at250−499,0.58at250−499,0.39 at 500-749, and 0.26at1,000ormore.Setupis0.26at1,000ormore.Setupis0-75 per colour, plus freight and duty.
What is the minimum order for custom printed balloons?
One colour on one side of a latex balloon starts at 100-250 pieces. Two colours need 250-1,000, three to four colours 1,000-3,000, and a second side adds 500-1,000. Foil starts at 50-250, photo balloons at 1-50.
How long does custom balloon printing take?
Artwork check 1-2 business days, digital proof about 1 day, screen production 4-10 business days for one or two colours or up to three weeks for three or more, plus 5-10 days air freight. A standard order runs three to four weeks door to door.
Can you print my logo on a balloon?
Yes. Send vector art in AI, EPS, or PDF with fonts outlined, or a 300 dpi raster at final size. We check the safe zone and colour build, then send a proof. White ink on dark latex needs an underlay.
Do you provide a proof or a sample?
Every order gets a digital proof in about one business day. You approve the exact file before production. A physical sample is optional and recommended above 1,000 pieces; it shows how the ink stretches.
Are custom printed balloons biodegradable?
Natural latex is renewable, but “biodegradable” needs qualification. A 2020 University of Tasmania study found no meaningful degradation after 16 weeks in water or compost. Bin popped latex, never release it, and ask for material and ink details.
Request a Custom Balloon Printing Quote
The fastest quote needs five inputs: quantity, sizes and colours, artwork status, in-hands date, and destination. Send those five and we’ll return a landed quote with MOQ, setup, freight, and lead time on one sheet.
You don’t need finished art. Send the use case and the date, and we’ll recommend a format, method, and quantity. If a domestic printer is the better call, we’ll say so.
Send your five inputs for a landed quote or read how to order custom balloons first. You’ll know the cost, what you are approving, and when it’ll land before you pay a deposit.
The best custom balloon printing company isn’t the one with the lowest unit price. It’s the one that tells you who prints, what the proof covers, what the paperwork says, and what happens if the print is wrong.
